Journey of CEO

Sanjay Chandrakanth Daddikar, proprietor, owner and founder of S. Daddikar and Associates was born in a middle class family on 12th of April 1971 in a small village called Patane in Chandgad Taluka of Kolhapur District. His father owned a small shop in the same village which took care of all basic needs of the family. The population of the village in those days was not more than 500, though the village was small it was filled with the beauty of Mother Nature, Each day of every individual in the village started off with the morning bell which rung in the church at 5.30am and ended with bhajans with villagers at Ravalnath Temple.
The journey of Mr Daddikar started in the same village where he joined his primary schooling at the Marathi Shala; he was a very enthusiastic and participative boy in his school, May it be class tests or interschool competitions Mr Daddikar used to always come first and hence he was the favorite of his teachers. As he completed his forth standard his parents thought of giving him a better education and decided to shift him to his aunt’s house at Sawantwadi. He then was admitted in St. Milagries High School which was one of the biggest schools in the city. It used to be only during the summer vacations that Mr Daddikar visited his village, One fine day while he was going to his village in the year 1980 he came across two big civil projects which were coming up at his village one of the Erdan Dam and the Hydroelectric Project of Tilari Nagar and another was the construction of a bridge on the river of Patane. He was attracted with the activities of these projects, How engineering and machine work simultaneously, How engineers work behind them. These questions made him more curious and he got interested in knowing more about it. At just the age of 12 where all other boys enjoyed playing Mr Daddikar took a bold decision of becoming a Civil Engineer.
He finished his SSLC and joined college in Belgaum city which was 40 Kms away from his village, As his parents could not afford his hostel fees he preferred in doing up and down to college from his village. There used to be only one bus which used to come to belgaum from Patane at 6.30 in the morning and used to go back at 7.00 in the evening. He used to waste his 3 hours in travelling only because he cud not afford to stay in hostel. He completed his degree in science and joined engineering. During those days there used to be lots of craze for electronics, Telecommunications and Computer science so people choosing Civil Engineering was very rare. Mr Daddikar showed interest in choosing Civil Engineering not by chance but by choice. His dream was to aim high towards the sky and land somewhere among the stars. He made his dream come true by completing his engineering from BUB College of engineering in First Class.
After this achievement, his parents wanted him to search a job for himself, but in his mind he always wanted in to start his own business. Competition in construction industry was not very high during those days and it was a positive sign for him. But he was just a fresher in this field and had no practical knowledge so it would be difficult for him to start his business; hence he decided to join a well established construction group in Belgaum to gain experience and practical knowledge. He worked there for two years and during this timeframe he learnt all practical edges in his field and came across many new aspects which he had not learnt during his engineering. He resigned his job in 1996 when he was confident enough in doing business; He started his own office in Sundarabai Niwas, Sadashiv nagar Belgaum. He faced many problems in getting projects as he was just a newcomer in his business and had no references for support. After a long struggle, on 16th December 1996 he got his first project of Gokul Dudh Diary at Parle, Tal : Chandgad worth Rs 2,05,000/-. Though the project was of very small amount he took it and completed it on the scheduled time and successfully placed his mark in the construction industry.
His work was been appreciated by all and he started gaining name and fame through his work. He now started receiving many other projects from his village. One day when he was reading newspaper he came across the news about Pargad Mandir, the renovation committee was searching for a contractor who can finish the project. Mr Daddikar approached them in their Mumbai office & Mr Kanoba S Malave gave him the opportunity of completing the project. The estimated price was Rs.35 to Rs 40 lacs. This project became a mile stone for his career, and his work graph went on increasing as days went by. After the Pargad project he stopped taking residential and small works and concentrated only on Industrial projects.
S. Daddikar and Associates then reached the extreme heights in its business and became one among the reputed companies in construction industry. It started getting works from well established companies like Ashok Irons, Jindal, Satish Sugars, Renuka sugars and many more. But as life’s full of up’s and down’s one of Mr Daddikar’s decisions made a very bad impact on his business. He lost Rs 65 lacs in one of his turn key projects. This happened because of the increase in steel by 250% and immature agreement. He did not get any compensation from the company and he faced a financial breakdown. All his suppliers started to harass him through their sub contractors and he faced a very tough time in life. Even arranging Rs 10/- became tough for him. He had no ray of hope until one day when a priest named Mr Sudhirji came to help S. Daddikar and Associates. It was not possible for Mr Daddikar to survive his life and business without the help of this holy man.
Soon S. Daddikar and Associates came out from this phase and once again started its journey; today it’s on the peak of achievement and has placed its mark on the construction industry as one of the reputed and renowned company.
